Students make bandanas for friends with special needs
(April 20, 2018) - Many students from Mrs. Vitale's fourth grade class showed interest in doing a project after school that would benefit other students at Seward Elementary. Students showed interest in learning how to sew for our project, and after sharing this idea with other teachers, Mrs. Vitale's class came up with the idea on how they could help others. They decided to make bandanas for fellow students and friends with special needs at Seward Elementary.
After school Mrs. Weaver, Mrs. Murphy and Mrs. Vitale went over the basics of hand stitching and how to use a sewing machine. The students stitched wash cloths to the back of bandanas for their friends. After they completed them, students went and delivered the bandanas to the students and staff. Their friends with special needs wear them throughout the day, so the students wanted to make some new ones with fun patterns for them to wear.
It was a heartwarming experience for all students and staff involved.
