The Montessori School of the Finger Lakes was founded in 1982 and is based upon the educational philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori. St. Joseph Preschool focuses on the world of three, four and five year old children. The program is designed to lead them from wonder to discovery and from investigation to affirmation. It provides the opportunity for all children to associate pleasure with learning so that each child feels good about herself or himself.
The goals of the program are to help each child build self-esteem, and provide meaningful and appropriate experiences. Lessons include development of age appropriate readiness skills and large and small motor skills. As part of St. Joseph School, the preschool students have the opportunity to share experiences with older children including Morning Program, reading buddies and physical education activities. The five day program provides a setting that enriches the readiness skills needed for Kindergarten for four and five year old children.

The YMCA Preschool combines both education and recreation for a stimulating preschool experience. Our highly qualified staff draw from the best practices in Early Childhood education to create a program that is fun and engaging for all children. Weekly swim, gym and music classes enhance the well-rounded traditional preschool curriculum. Program hours are 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday for our full-day 3PK and UPK classes. Our half-day 3PK class runs from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. An afternoon half-day 3PK class may be scheduled, dependent upon demand. We have care available from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. or from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., if needed.
