Human Transport Objectives

-Define transport and name the components of the human circulatory system.
-Describe plasma and list components.
-Describe red blood cells and describe their function.
-Describe platelets and describe their function.
-Describe white blood cells, name the 2 types (phagocytes and lymphocytes) and explain their functions.
-Define immunity and explain the immune response.
-Compare active and passive immunity, using examples.
-Describe an allergic response.
-Define antigen and antibody.
-Identify the antigen and antibody present in each of the 4 blood types.
-Define agglutination and be able to recognize when it would occur.
-Define Rh factor.
-Describe the structure and function of the 3 kinds of blood vessels.
-Label a diagram of the human heart, including direction of blood flow.
-Explain pulse and blood pressure.
-Compare the 3 systems of circulation (pulmonary, coronary, and systemic).
-Describe the following malfunctions: High blood pressure, heart attack, anemia, leukemia, hemophilia, mononucleosis, and sickle cell anemia.
