Human Endocrine System Objectives

-State the similarities and differences between the nervous system and endocrine system.

-Describe the general characteristics of endocrine glands.

-Define hormones and state how they are transported in the body.

-State what is meant by target tissue.

-For each of the endocrine glands (hypothalamus, pituitary gland, thyroid gland, adrenal glands, pancreas, testes, and ovaries): Locate the gland on a diagram, state the hormone secreted, and describe the function of each hormone.

-Describe the mechanism used for endocrine control (negative feedback).

-Describe the endocrine malfunctions:  Goiter and diabetes.
