Statement from Superintendent Pirozzolo regarding the passing of a student

Dear Auburn Families,

It is with profound sadness that I write to inform you of the unexpected passing of one of our Seward Elementary third grade students, Princess Overstreet, due to a medical incident.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to Princess’s family and the entire Seward Elementary School community. During this time, as the school community processes the tragic news and copes with grief, our district’s crisis team will offer counseling and bereavement support services to all of our students and employees.

The death of a student in our school community is a difficult and challenging situation that can generate a high level of anxiety and distress in some students. If you feel that your child needs to speak to a counselor or another member of the school’s crisis team, please do not hesitate to contact the school to let us know.

This is a difficult time for everyone, and the entire school community should lean on each other as they remember Princess.
